South Wales Province - 2021 Festival

 

Every so often a Masonic Province will organise a massive fund raising event, more commonly known as a 'Festival'.

 

In January 2015 the Right Worshipful Provincial Grand Master, RW Bro Gareth Jones OBE, launched the 2021 Soutth Wales Province Festival. The festival aims to raise in excess of £5m over the six year period up to 2021. All monies raised are to the benefit of Royal Masonic Benevolent Institution (RMBI).

 

Funds are raised in several ways;

 

From individual brethren via Gift Aid; a process by which members donate regularly to a charity account or 'relief chest' held on behalf of the Lodge or Province at United Grand Lodge. Money placed in a relief chest will benefit from a further 25% tax relief from the inland revinue, so obviouly every £1 given is worth roughly £1.25. All the money placed in this account also benefits from a much better interest rate e.g the result of an individual donating say £184.00 over a period of say five years will yield approximately £250.00 net.

 

The individual target for the 2021 Festival is £500.00. so it's quite conceivable that the individual amount donated to a Relief Chest to achieve £500.00 could be just £375.00, over five years that's £6.25 a month.

 

On achieving a £500.00 donation a brother will be

awarded the Festival Jewel and the Lodge the Bronze

Award when every Lodge member reaches £500.00

 

Other monies are raised from general fund raising

concepts i.e. Raffles, Ladies Nights, dances, skittles

etc. the proceeds of which will serve to bolster the

Lodge's giving toward the festival target, which is an ambitious £1000.00 per brother - approx. £32,000.00 for Princes Lodge

 

The Province is also doing it's bit toward the Festival; the proceeds of the new

Provincial Tie at £12.50 is donated to the Festival. There will be a Provincial Bow Tie, a Festival pin badge, a Gala Dinner and many other Provincial initiatives.
